My 2023/2024 drag racing season has been filled with incredible highs,
personal growth, and heartfelt connections.
I look back on this race season feeling accomplished with a second-place finish in the WA Drag Racing Championship, supported by 3 event wins and 2 runner-up positions. As well as finishing the season on 800 points, 5th highest points earned from 220 competitors across all driving brackets.
While the victories on the track have been immensely gratifying, what truly fills my heart with pride is the opportunity to inspire and empower others, particularly women and young girls, to pursue their passions fearlessly. Becoming a mother has not only brought me a newfound sense of self-worth and self-respect but has also fuelled my desire to be a role model and pave the way for others in the sport.
I owe a debt of gratitude to my team that have been the reason behind my success this season.
· My husband, Trent. With his knowledge and intricacy to detail his most difficult task hasn’t actually been setting the dial-ins for my elimination rounds but instead he has been tackled with the task of mentally supporting me on race day. Whether it's offering practical advice or simply being a comforting presence, Trent's always providing me with encouragement and expressing his belief in my potential.
· This season, I had the pleasure of welcoming my nephew, Ethan, to our racing team. His passion and dedication to the sport has been truly inspiring and has infused our team with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
· My father-in-law, Trev, whose quiet wisdom and wealth of knowledge has been a source of guidance helping me navigate and excel in the Modified racing bracket. I am privileged to learn from him and am grateful for his dedication to my racing.
I'd like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Dimmo (Dimoff Transmisson's) for standing by me as a sponsor since the very beginning of my racing journey. His support has always felt deeply genuine and unconditional, making both me and my family feel like members of his own. Dimmo's encouragement not only lifts my spirits but also brings a sense of solace during challenging times, for which I'm truly grateful.
In addition to my success on the track, I am honoured to have been nominated for the Gary Miocevich Award of Excellence in the Sport of Drag Racing. This nomination, voted for by the Motorplex track staff, holds special significance for me, as it reflects not only my dedication to the sport but also the values of sportsmanship, professionalism, and community spirit that are at the heart of drag racing. Knowing that this has been acknowledged by the track staff and the racing community, is a testament to the friendships and connections my team and I have formed. Thank you for sharing my laugher, always giving a wave and a cheer as I am towed back down the return road and for always being the first to celebrate my victories with me. I cherish those moments immensely.
Gary Miocevich was not only instrumental in establishing the Perth Motorplex but also in shaping the future of drag racing in Australia. Gary was a huge supporter of mine and often spoke about his aspirations for my future racing.
To be nominated for an award bearing his name is a profound honour—one that I accept with pride and gratitude. Congratulations to the well-earned recipient of the award for the 2nd consecutive year, Kasey McClure and the McClure Motorsport team.
I am thankful for the camaraderie is shared amongst the Modified racing teams that make our competition so enjoyable. Thank you to our bracket marshal Ally for your kindness and keeping us informed throughout race day.
Congratulations to Modified bracket winner Paul Garbellini who had an exceptional first season in his dragster after making the move to Modifed from Super Street this season.
Luna and Cleo absolutely love coming to the drags and the interactions and friendships that they have made at the track with people outside of my team has been a significant contributor to their love and enthusiasm for the sport. Thank you to those that have treated my daughters so kindly during the long race days.
To my Dad, Thank you for investing so much in the early stages of my racing journey, providing me with invaluable opportunities to compete. Your generosity has laid the foundation for unforgettable experiences and countless memories on the racetrack, for which I am truly thankful.
Thank you for taking the time to read and celebrate these achievements with me. I am excited for the season that lies ahead and the opportunity to continue inspiring others to chase their dreams.
